Berhasil Dukung PSBB, Penumpang MRT Jakarta Turun Drastis

PT MRT Jakarta Successfully Supports Implementation of PSBB

The MRT Jakarta has experienced a significant decrease of passengers since April 2020 until the fasting month in May, which is only 4,134 people.

Predictably, in the future, our customer will still be around 2,000-3,000 per day

They claimed it is a form of success in supporting large-scale social restrictions (PSBB). Prior to coronavirus, they could scoop up 100,000 passengers.

Temporary Closure of 7 MRT Stations Runs Well

PT MRT Jakarta President Director William Sabandar disclosed it broke out when his company imposed health protocol and supported the government policy 'PSBB' in Jakarta.

"During PSBB status and station closure, as of April 28, there are only 4,134 passengers every day. Our yesterday record shows it has decreased to 2,080," he expressed, when being interviewed by online, Wednesday (4/29).

He explained, prior to coronavirus, the number of MRT passengers was still 109,000 every day. While a week later or March 13, it slightly decreased to 98,000. Despite it is still high, people had begun to anticipate the spread of COVID-19.

No wonder, passengers decreased drastically on March 16 when restrictions on operating hours and headway widening were applied. At that time, there were only 27,000 passengers.

Even though it was one day, the government had to extend it until March 20 where the passengers decreased up to 21,000. Then a week later or March 27, its number decreased again around 8,000 during work form home policy and social distancing.

"Predictably, in the future, our customer will still be around 2,000-3,000 per day as seven stations have been closed for a while," he stated.
